Since I’m trying to stick to my guns and decrease the amount of nightly binges of deliciously decadent ice cream, I’m replacing my insatiable need for cold delights with sorbet! My friend Ann bought me this book as a wedding gift. It’s chock full of yummy recipes, including the wonderfully tart, Cranberry Lime Sorbet:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 2.5 cups cranberries
  • 3/4 cup fresh lime or orange juice
  • Zest of 1 lime

Place the sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. When the sugar has dissolved add the cranberries, return to a boil. Cook until the cranberries pop, about 4 minutes. Set aside to cool. Place in a blender and puree. Add remaining 1.5 cups water, lime juice and zest to the blender and puree. Then freeze if you don’t have a machine.
